Vulcano is a 27,200 tonne support ship that entered service with the Italian Navy in 2021, and is equipped with Walton electrically operated valves controlling the temperature of her fresh water cooling system.

Built by Fincantieri in Italy for the Italian Navy, Vulcano is designed to support Italian Navy operations with fuel and dry stores. She has the ability to refuel ships, produce fresh water, carry cargo and has a maintenance workshop to enables her to conduct repairs at sea.

A second vessel was ordered in January 2022 for projected delivery in 2025. The Navy also has an option for a third ship of the class.
