Air conditioning system for fast ferries

Walton’s 200mm gas operated valves regulate the air conditioning on a fleet of ferries for Superfast Ferries which were built to provide services between Greece and Italy, and also between Germany and Finland & Sweden. Some of these vessels have since been sold and are now serving other routes. Of varying sizes up to 204m, the largest of these vessels can carry up to 1595 passengers.

The gas operated valves on these vessels regulate the pressure of the refrigerant gas in the air conditioning system by automatically adjusting the flow of sea water coolant through the condenser. This in turn controls the temperature of the air-conditioned areas, thus maintaining the highest levels of comfort on board whether the environment is the cold of the Baltic winter or the heat of the Adriatic summer.
