Walton RP 405 Clearvue

Bench Mounted Reflex Projector

The Walton RP 405 Clearvue Projector provides, in the same compact form as the highly successful RP 305, a projector having a larger screen and workstage.  As will be seen from the specification, this machine provides a projector having a 405mm (16”) screen.  Like the RP 305, the RP 405 has a  fibreglass case reinforced by an internal rigid frame.  We have fitted a specially developed high quality optical system, and a full range of magnifications from x10 to x50 is available.  The machine is supplied complete with surface illumination through fibre optic light guides, and the 150 watt light sources to both the profile and surface illumination units are fan cooled.  These systems provide a brilliant image to the screen, which is etched with crossed lines and a 360Ί protractor scale with a flat glass vernier which enables very fine angular measurements to be obtained.

Projection Lenses

The lenses are fully corrected precision projection lenses, specially designed and manufactured by one of Europe’s leading lens makers.  They provide a sharply defined and accurate image, free from aberrations and distortion over the entire screen area.

Separate condensers are supplied for each lens magnification and both are quickly interchangeable without the necessity for any kind of adjustment. All optical components are specially coated to give maximum light transmissions and freedom from reflections.  Magnifications of x10, x20, x25 and x50 are available.

The Mirror

The mirror is 25mm (1”) x 250mm (10”) dia optical glass, worked flat to within 30 millionths of an inch 0.00003, and spherically true to within 2 millionths 0.000002.  The front surface is fully aluminised and silicon monoxide coated to give an extremely durable and highly effective mirror surface.

The Screen

The 6mm thick screen is of optical flat glass, ground to produce sharp and distinct images with maximum contrast.  It is etched with crosslines.  The edge has a 360Ί protractor scale and the unit incorporates a flat glass vernier which allows accuracy adjustable to 5 minute of arc.  The screen is mounted on Teflon rollers and is driven by a hand-wheel conveniently mounted.  This unit also contains a locking device.  A full range of screens is available and these are readily interchanged by simply swinging clear the top roller and removing and replacing the appropriate screen.  The full area of all screens is available for use and overlays are mounted with hairpin type clips.

Light Source

A light source for profile projection is fan cooled and a 150 watt Tungsten Halogen bulb is fitted.  A raking light adjustment is provided to enable the inspection of screw thread forms, etc., to be inspected normal to axis.

Filters

Filters are available in either Red, Green or Yellow and are easily fitted or changed.  The green and Yellow filters are recommended for inspection procedures involving long periods of viewing.  The red filter will give contrast when surface illumination is being used in conjunction with profile projection.

The Measuring Stage

The measuring stage which is supplied complete with centres is 380mm (15”) x 100mm (4”) and is adjustable in vertical, horizontal and focusing planes.  Vertical movement is actuated by a precision lead screw, and controlled for fine movement by the easily reached hand-wheel.  Horizontal and focusing movements are controlled by precision racks and pinions.  The simple and quick adjustment of the measuring stage is one of the major features of the Walton RP 405 Clearvue Projector, offering great advantages to the production line operation for checking  purposes.  A tee-slot enables centres and other accessories to be accurately fitted.  A non-glare treatment is applied for minimum reflection.

Digital Indicators

Digital indicators are fitted to both the vertical and horizontal planes and enables accurate measurements to be taken in both axes.  The indicators offer dual imperial or metric readings over 25mm (1”) travel.

Surface Illumination

Surface Illumination is built into the machine, and a separate light source is provided.  This comprises of a 150 watt Diacrylic bulb.  Light is carried via two fibre optic light guides to the viewing surface, and the light transmitting heads may be adjusted to any angle by means of adjustable arms.  The entire unit is cooled by a fan, thus guaranteeing that maximum life is obtained from the bulb.

Flat Object Holder

A flat object holder is available for measuring and holding thin and flat objects which are difficult to hold be conventional means.

Dust Cover

Each machine is supplied with a heavy duty plastic dust cover.

The Standard Machine

The Standard Machine is supplied complete with fully equipped workstage, centres and vee blocks, two digital indicators, surface illumination as standard, 405mm (16”) dia protractor screen and dust cover.  Lenses and condensers of x10, x20, x25 and x50 magnifications are available at extra cost.
