Established in 1942 WALTON ENGINEERING CO. LTD. is an independent family owned business having its Head Office and manufacturing unit based in St. Albans, Hertfordshire, England, approximately 30 kilometres north of London.

Walton have designed and manufactured temperature control systems for nearly 60 years.  These valves are sold on a world-wide basis for marine, power generation and industrial applications.  The direct operated range is also manufactured in Japan.

Production began with a valve powered by a simple bi-metal coil and these were originally installed on diesel engines for locomotives. This was replaced by a fixed range wax element incorporated into a mechanism within the valve body, the position of the rotor of the valve being determined by the expansion of the wax element.

A variety of alternative actuation and control methods have been added over recent years, so that today a full range of temperature control products is available.  We are always willing to consider creating a customised solution to meet the needs of a client, if our standard products are not suitable: the flexible nature of the basic Walton valve design means that this can often be a cost-effective approach.
